Hi, I’m Laurisa, Founder of Girls Who Know®

When I was a girl, I didn't understand my body or know how inspiring it was. I felt shame around how my body looked and formed ideas about it based on incomplete information. As a young adult, I entered childbirth afraid and uneducated because I didn't know. Our girls can have better.

I created Girls Who Know® in response to the need to improve childbirth outcomes for women, and this begins with our girls. As an educator, nurse, and mom of five, I’ve seen that if girls are given the chance to know themselves before they reach adulthood, they grow up with confidence in who they are. The more girls grow up trusting their bodies, the more we create a world rooted in joy, authenticity and power. This is how we improve childbirth outcomes for generations to come.

As this movement has grown, I’ve gathered a team of amazing women who share my passion and heart for changing the way girls see themselves. As your girls interact with our Mentors, they will witness women who live with profound respect for their bodies, and that is something they’ll remember.

Laurisa Paul, RN, Founder

Laurisa is a mom of five who appreciates a good challenge and lives for adventure. Raising wholehearted kids, connecting with women, and wondering about God keep her life full. She loves things that are real, laughing, and eating beautiful food... preferably while barefoot.

Sally Lindsay, RN, BSN, IBCLC

Sally has been a nurse for 30 years, is a midwifery student, instructor for Evidence Based Birth® and proud boy mom x3! She’s a beach lover and baby-snuggler who keeps family first-always. She is passionate about empowering moms, inspiring girls to love themselves, and spreading sunshine wherever she goes.

Amy Blain, RN, BSN, Childbirth Educator

Amy is most inspired when in groups working hard toward meaningful goals. She makes lists daily just so she can check things off. She is the mother of three young adults, a wife and childbirth educator. She will be found most mornings walking her dog Quincy while listening to podcasts about birth, current events or spiritual formation. Her favorite meal would include a pizza covered in veggies and maybe a milk tea with boba for dessert.

Charity Silva, BS, Community Teacher

Charity is happiest when she’s helping someone! She loves hugging her children, eating burrito bowls and mentoring with Girls Who Know®. Driven by her passion for women’s mental health, she guides girls to trust their bodies and intuition. She hopes this early confidence and awareness will shape their lives- and their futures- for the better.

Stephani De Azevedo, BS, DONA

Stephani is a powerhouse doula and child birth educator who was born for the work of creating better birth outcomes. She is a mother of three girls and one son.
